Recycling

  1. Is junk mail recyclable?
Yes. All paper other than waxed is recyclable.

  2. Can I bring in metal that has contaminates on it; example barbecue, bicycle, etc.?
Yes. It is considered shredder steel.

  3. Do I have to take the label off of my tin cans and flatten them?
No. Not for our facility, however, we do ask that they be rinsed.

  4. Do you pay for recyclables?
Yes. We pay for certain commodities, plus any thing you recycle reduces your dumping fee for garbage.

  5. Do our recyclabes need to be separated?
Yes. We prefer them that way. If you have questions about how to do this our workers are available to teach you how. Or you can look at the Preparing your Recyclables for the Recycling Station page under the Recycling section of Facilities for more information.

  6. What material do you accept for recycling?
Our employees have a list of material we accept and are available to answer questions. You may also check under the Recycling section of Facilities and look under Items Accepted at the Hidden Valley Recycling Center for more information.

  7. Do you take appliances?
No. These may be taken to the transfer station for a fee.

  8. Does this really make a difference in the big picture?
Yes. We are a small recycling center. In one month we ship approximately a quarter million pounds of shredder steel, 75 tons of cardboard, 50 tons of newspaper, and 50 tons of mixed paper. These are only four of the many commodities we accept.
