  1. Do you take sod?
Yes, it can be no thicker than 2 inches overall. Dirt cannot exceed 11/2 inches of the sod.

  2. Why are there air holes in the floor?
There are air holes in the floor to keep the material from smelling sour.

  3. Why is the building enclosed?
The building is fully enclosed because composting can be odorous and we collect and treat the air from inside before releasing it outside. We have neighbors that live close by that we have to consider.

  4. Why do you grind it?
The smaller particle size helps the natural process of composting to accelerate. The microbes that do the composting need pieces small enough for them to break down. The larger the piece the longer it takes to compost.

  5. What is not acceptable?
Unacceptable materials include: rocks, metal, bricks, glass, dog or cat waste, sand, dirt, straw, hay or manure. We only take organic materials that pass our acceptance program.

  6. What do you do with the yard waste?
Through a natural biological process we turn everyday yard clippings and organics into a nutrient rich soil amendment called compost.

  7. What do we use the compost for?
The public has many uses for compost which includes; flowerbeds, gardens, top dressing lawns, or starting a lawn from scratch. It can be used as an organic alternative to chemicals for enhancing your soils.

You may purchase our compost at our Sales Road facility located off of Hwy 512 and Steele Street. For more information on this site look under Facilities in this web site.
